movin' on up

This weekend, Daniel helped his great-grandpa move into his new place. He was in charge of entertainment, as well as helping to direct the packing operations.

"Mom, I think you should put those bowls in that box over there."

"Great-grandpa, do you want me to pack this napkin I shredded for you?"

"It looks like someone forgot to unpack this rattle."

"Here, let me get it."

crawling

Sorry for not posting sooner - we've been trying to figure out how to get video up here. Which also involved trying to figure out how to get the video from the video camera to the computer... which also involved finding the CD to install the video camera software on the computer. At long last, we were able to locate the necessary CD and get it all worked out.

So as I mentioned in the last post, Daniel has just learned to crawl! Here's a video of one of his early attempts (taken on Saturday). It's amazing how quickly he learns - now, just days later, he is much better at it than he is here. As you can see, he is very motivated by the idea of grabbing the video camera. This kid is enthralled with electronics - cameras, remotes, cell phones, you name it, if it's shiny and silver and has buttons, he wants it!

happy easter!

Our favorite little bunny wants to wish you a happy Easter!

Daniel had a wonderful first Easter. The day started with the discovery of a basket left by the Easter bunny. No candy this year, but the treats included new sippy cups, books, and a cow-duck for the bathtub.
After breakfast and a nap, Daniel got dressed in his Easter finest for church, where he spent some time flirting with a 5-month-old little girl in the row in front of us. Can you blame her for thinking he's adorable? In the afternoon, he entertained all three sets of grandparents with video calls, showing off his newfound skills - CRAWLING! (More on that later.) All in all, a happy and exhausting day!

kisses

Daniel is learning to give kisses. He doesn't quite have the pucker down yet (okay, at all), so it ends up being a big, slobbery, open-mouth attack. It's pretty darn cute and funny. He kept kissing me last night, and all three of us were cracking up. Silly boy!

an infant no more

Although Daniel hasn't officially outgrown the infant carseat yet (by weight or height), for all practical purposes, he's too big for it. He just didn't look comfy, and I could barely carry him in it any more. So, this weekend we installed his new, fancy, "big boy" carseat. This one should carry him through the next couple of years (rear-facing for now, then forward-facing when he's at least a year old). He seems to like it! This thing is awfully soft and plush... I kinda wish I had one it looks so comfy!

a tooth!

I've been saying for weeks that it was going to happen any day... I was bound to be right eventually! Daniel's bottom left tooth popped through a couple of days ago, and the right one is about to follow. It's a little hard to see in the photo, but trust me, it was no easy feat capturing this picture, and Daniel was none too happy about my attempts. I'll take more photos when the tooth is far enough to actually show when he smiles!

wonderful world

Welcome to our blog! With family and friends spread all over the place, I thought it would be nice to have a place to share all the latest updates on our little family (well, mostly updates on Daniel, let's face it, that's why you're really here!)

We had a hard time coming up with a name for this blog, but we decided to go back to where it all began. Our first dance at our wedding was "What a Wonderful World". The lyric 'bright blessed day' jumped out at me - we are certainly blessed, and every day is a little brighter with Daniel here. and thus, the blog is named.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.
